Affordable family ski resorts in Europe and North America

A family of four, priced from the operator tables we re-read on 13 October 2026. The free child column is a birth year. Lodging and flights stay on the other cost pages.

Four lift tickets. That is the bill that shows up before anyone has booked a bed. A family of four, on this page, means two adults and two children who fit the child band printed on that resort's own table. If one child was born a year earlier, the cell changes. We re-read the operator pages on 13 October 2026. A number that was not on those pages is not here.

The move, if you can slide the week: SkiWelt's FamilienSkiWochen. Children born 2011 to 2020 are marked free on a 6-day pass when a parent buys one, so two adults are EUR 744. Park the same family in the high season, 19 December 2026 to 12 March 2027, and that free column is gone. The ordinary SkiWelt 6-day is then EUR 1,241. Zillertal's valley 6-day is EUR 1,157, and a child born in 2011 is not a child on that pass.

North America, on the pages that actually print a ticket, is a day problem. Bridger Bowl prints an online day. Big White prints a weekday. Winter Park prints an adult "from." Vail's ticket page returned a 403, so it has no window dollar here. The wider free-pass list is the kids ski free index. Flights and beds live on Europe versus the USA. An Austrian week of lifts against a Colorado day is the Austria week versus Vail page.

How the family of four gets billed

Write the two birth years on a piece of paper before you fall for a village photo. Then match the year to the column, not to the word "child."

On SkiWelt and on Saalbach, the child column is birth years 2011 to 2020. Youth is 2008 to 2010, and youth is not free during the family weeks. On the Zillertal Superskipass, the child column is 2012 to 2020 and youth is 2008 to 2011. A 2011 baby is the expensive surprise. Born in 2021 or later, the child's ticket is zero on SkiWelt, on Saalbach (with an adult and a photo), and on the Zillertal valley pass (with a paying supervisor and ID). Hochzillertal's own price page did not repeat that free sentence. Read the valley page before you assume the Hochfรผgen desk says the same thing.

The totals below are two adult cells plus two child cells from the same table. They are not a hotel, not a flight, and not a lesson. Do not add a euro row to a dollar row. The KeyCard deposit at Saalbach is EUR 2 a card, and it is not inside the EUR 1,320. Big White adds a CAD 10 card fee, and the prices exclude 5 percent GST.

The catch on the cheap SkiWelt week: the individual low-season tariff still prints EUR 186 for a child 6-day. The FamilienSkiWochen table, on those same dates, prints gratis. The free cell dies if you are on a season card, a single ride, a point card, Learn to Ski, a group rate, the Super Ski Card, a winter hiking card, or another promo, or if the parent or grandparent never buys a pass. Then you are on the ordinary low-season bill, EUR 1,116 for the same four people.

โš ๏ธ Birth year first. Then the currency.

Born in 2011 is a child at SkiWelt and Saalbach, and a youth on the Zillertal Superskipass. "Up to 15" is the SkiWelt headline. The priced column is the birth years. Keep the currencies in separate columns in your own notes, too.

Europe: the weeks that print a family bill

1

SkiWelt, when you can move the dates

Ellmau and Sรถll are the doors we can open on this site. The FamilienSkiWochen run 5 to 18 December 2026 and 13 to 29 March 2027, and Ellmau keeps them through 4 April 2027. German and English tables match. Adult 6-day EUR 372. Children born 2011 to 2020: gratis. Youth born 2008 to 2010: still EUR 279, so a 16-year-old is not the free column. Two adults and two children in the child band: EUR 744.

The headline says children up to 15 ski free, and it points at the conditions. Use the birth years on the table. Born in 2021 or later is also free, on the footnote. If the promo exclusions hit you, the ordinary low-season child 6-day is EUR 186 and the four of you are EUR 1,116. High season, 19 December 2026 to 12 March 2027, is adult EUR 413.50 and child EUR 207, so EUR 1,241. One high-season day, if that is all you need, is EUR 79.50 and EUR 40, so EUR 239 for the same four people.

2

Zillertal, and the 2011 trap

The valley pass is the Zillertaler Superskipass, valid 4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027, and it covers the whole valley from 2 days. Six days: adult EUR 399, youth EUR 319, child EUR 179.50. Two adults and two children born 2012 to 2020: EUR 1,157. We read that 6-day row on zillertal.at, on the Hochzillertal price page in German and in English, and on the Zillertal Arena page. The Arena page says those prices include 10 percent VAT.

Youth on this pass is 2008 to 2011. A child born in 2011 pays EUR 319, not EUR 179.50. Born after 1 January 2021 rides free with a paying supervisor and ID, on the valley page and on the Arena age block. Hochzillertal's price page did not repeat that sentence. zillertal.at still has a leftover line about winter 2025/2026 prices overleaf. The table we used is labeled 2026/2027, and the other two operators reprint the same cells. The English valley URL 404'd.

Mayrhofen and Hochzillertal are the two valley pages we can open from here. A single day at Hochzillertal, from the 07:30 row, is EUR 83 for an adult without a guest card and EUR 37 for a child born 2012 to 2020. That is EUR 240 for four, and it is one area, not the valley. With a guest card the adult cell is EUR 82. Do not quote 82 as the walk-up.

3

Saalbach in peak season

Saalbach peak season is 19 December 2026 to 12 March 2027. German and English match. Six days: adult EUR 440, youth EUR 330, child EUR 220. Two adults and two children born 2011 to 2020: EUR 1,320, plus a EUR 2 KeyCard deposit on each card. Born in 2021 or younger is free with an adult and a photo. One peak day is EUR 82 and EUR 41, so EUR 246 for the same four. This is the honest expensive end of the European shortlist we could price. It is still a printed table, which is more than Vail gave us.

North America: days with a printed ticket

1

Bridger Bowl, the day that is actually a number

Bridger Bowl prints a 2026/27 online day. Adult 19 to 69 is USD 86. Child 7 to 12 is USD 40. Two of each: USD 252. Preschool, 6 and under, is USD 0 online and USD 5 at the window. The window adult is USD 99 and the window child is USD 52, so the same four people at the window are USD 302 if both kids are 7 to 12. Junior 13 to 18 is USD 54 online, not the child cell.

Do not multiply the day by six and call it a week. The page sells an any-day 3-pack with no blackouts: adult USD 230, child 7 to 12 USD 105, so USD 670 for four. A Bridger card is required. The ticket page does not print what the card costs. Half-day from 12:30 is an adult USD 74, and the other ages are blank on that row.

2

Big White on a weekday

Big White opens Thursday 26 November 2026 and closes Sunday 4 April 2027. Online, Monday to Friday, outside peak: adult 19 to 64 is CAD 124, child 6 to 12 is CAD 84. Two of each: CAD 416, before 5 percent GST, and then a CAD 10 card fee on each ticket that is not a tot or a reload. Weekend online is CAD 139 and CAD 94. Peak, any day, is CAD 189 and CAD 129. Peak dates on the page: 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, 13 to 21 February 2027, and 13 to 21 March 2027. A tot 5 and under is free at the window and is not sold online. A Saturday in February is not the CAD 416 day.

Colorado, which is the search that started this

The query is an affordable family resort in Colorado. Among the Colorado pages we can link, the one with a printed adult floor is Winter Park. The comparison table says from USD 113, based on a 1-day adult, and USD 89 on Thursdays from 7 January to 25 February 2027, also based on a 1-day adult. Flex packs show from USD 107 a day midweek or USD 125 a day, based on a 4-day adult, book by Nov. 5. The year is not printed on that Nov. 5 cell. There is no child price on the table. "From 113" times four is a story, not a quote. Don't budget it.

Purgatory is the Colorado page where kids 12 and under ski free, with a Power Kids Pass, proof of age, and a signed waiver. Two parents of children ages 3 and younger may share a pass. The adult day ticket is dynamic. One official page says 2026/27 lift tickets are coming soon. The lift-tickets page says the products are on sale, prices move with demand, and limited USD 9 tickets exist on select dates with USD 10 in Purgatory Cash. The dates are not listed on the page we opened, so USD 9 is not a family total. The kids-free Colorado roundup is the kids ski free Colorado guide.

Vail is the name in the expensive sentence, and the ticket page would not load on 13 October 2026. No 2026/27 window dollar. Last winter's newspaper figure stays off this page. If you need the Austria-week versus Colorado-day comparison we already published, that is the other guide, not a Vail total invented here.

Ski school prices we are not printing

A lift ticket does not put a five-year-old in a group. We opened lesson pages on the same day and did not get a 2026/27 children's group price worth putting next to these passes.

Bridger's lesson page is marked season 2026/27. It lists group products for ages 4 to 6 and for ages 7 to 12. It does not print a dollar. We are not calling that a minimum age, because the page also has an age filter we did not open product by product. Winter Park prints USD 99 for a 60-minute one-to-one pro tip, intermediate and advanced, starting at 8:00. That is not a kids group. The Ellmau Hartkaiser school, in German and in English, prints package prices that include several days of rental plus lessons, including a children's 4-day package at 230 euro for ages 5 to 14. Neither language prints 2026/27 on the offer. A rental bundle with no season label does not go in this table.

France is not a row here. We did not re-read a 2026/27 French forfait on 13 October. The live door for that question is the family lift-pass guide.

Before you treat a number as the week

  • Write both birth years. A child born in 2011 is a child at SkiWelt and Saalbach, and a youth on the Zillertal Superskipass.
  • If the week can be 5 to 18 December 2026 or 13 to 29 March 2027, use the SkiWelt FamilienSkiWochen table. The ordinary low-season child 6-day is still EUR 186.
  • A parent or grandparent has to buy the SkiWelt pass, or the free child column does not apply.
  • Youth born 2008 to 2010 still pays during SkiWelt family weeks. EUR 279 for six days.
  • Do not add euros to US dollars or to Canadian dollars.
  • Winter Park's USD 113 is an adult "from." It is not times four.
  • Vail's ticket page did not return a 2026/27 window on 13 October 2026.
  • A lesson package that includes rental, with no season on the price, is not a lift ticket.
  • Big White's CAD 416 is a Monday-to-Friday online day outside the printed peak dates, before tax, before the card fee.
  • Saalbach's EUR 1,320 does not include the EUR 2 KeyCard deposit.

Frequently asked questions

Where can a family of four ski without spending a fortune?

On the tables re-read on 13 October 2026, the lowest 6-day bill for two adults and two children in the child band is SkiWelt's FamilienSkiWochen: EUR 744, on 5 to 18 December 2026 or 13 to 29 March 2027, children born 2011 to 2020, and a parent buys a pass. Outside those weeks, Zillertal's valley 6-day is EUR 1,157 for children born 2012 to 2020, SkiWelt high season is EUR 1,241, and Saalbach peak is EUR 1,320. In North America the printed day is Bridger Bowl at USD 252 online for two adults and two children ages 7 to 12, or Big White at CAD 416 before tax for a weekday outside peak.

What is an affordable family ski resort in Colorado?

Winter Park is the linked Colorado page with a printed adult floor, from USD 113 for a 1-day adult, and USD 89 on Thursdays from 7 January to 25 February 2027. It does not print a child price, so there is no family total. Purgatory is where kids 12 and under ski free with a Power Kids Pass, proof of age, and a waiver, while the adult ticket is dynamic. Vail's ticket page did not load. Bridger Bowl is in Montana, not Colorado, and it is the North American page with a full age table.

Do kids ski free?

Sometimes, and the rule is a birth year or a product, not a vibe. SkiWelt: born 2021 and younger free, and born 2011 to 2020 free only during FamilienSkiWochen when a parent buys a pass. Saalbach: born 2021 or younger free with an adult and a photo. Zillertal Superskipass: born after 1 January 2021 free with a paying supervisor. Bridger: age 6 and under is USD 0 online. Big White: age 5 and under is free at the window. Purgatory: 12 and under with a Power Kids Pass. The longer list is the kids ski free index.

Why is a child born in 2011 cheaper in one valley than the next?

Because the columns are not the same product. SkiWelt and Saalbach put 2011 to 2020 in the child column. The Zillertal Superskipass puts 2012 to 2020 in the child column and 2008 to 2011 in youth, so 2011 pays the youth 6-day of EUR 319, not EUR 179.50. The Tirol Snow Card on the Arena page uses yet another pair of years. We did not use those season-card years for the week.

How much are the kids' ski lessons?

Not in this table. Bridger's 2026/27 lesson page lists group ages and no dollar. Winter Park's USD 99 is a one-to-one pro tip for intermediate and advanced skiers. The Ellmau school packages include rental and do not label the season. Use the operator's booking page for the week you are holding.

Does this include flights and the apartment?

No. These are lift tickets only. The week that includes flights and a place to sleep is Europe versus the USA. The question of whether an Austrian week of lifts beats a Colorado day is Austria week versus Vail. French forfaits we did not re-read are on the family lift-pass guide.
