The freeze is the holder, not the mountain

Esprit shut. Here is the childcare ladder.

Name who holds the 9-month-old before you pay for beds.

Esprit's last winter was 2023/24. Inghams kept some chalets and does not operate that childcare. Ski Famille, Mark Warner, VIP Ski, and Powder Byrne still print baby ages. This is a ladder, not a booking engine. We do not take a cut.

English is the canonical page. This locale is not indexed.

The short answer

Mid: Ski Famille comes to the chalet from 4 months. Mark Warner runs hotel clubs from 4 months at L'Ecrin in Tignes.

Mid-premium / premium: VIP private nanny from 12 weeks. Powder Byrne nanny or selected-resort creche from 4 months, price not published.

Real talk: an Inghams week is not Esprit with a new logo. If you already have beds, use a named resort creche. If you want one hotel that is the baby product, that is a Kinderhotel, and it is a different guide.

Five rungs. Pick one.

  1. 1

    Mid

Ski Famille in-chalet. Mark Warner hotel clubs in Tignes.

  2. 2

  3. 3

    Premium

Inghams bed plus a desk you book yourself. Not Esprit childcare.

  5. 5

    Other

Kinderhotel baby club. One property, not a UK chalet. Later guide.

Chalet nanny, resort creche, or Kinderhotel

Pick the chalet or hotel club

You want English-run care in the building you sleep in, both parents skiing the same hours, and a baby below ski-school age. That is Ski Famille, Mark Warner, VIP, or Powder Byrne. Read the printed age for your week.

Pick the resort creche

The beds are already booked. You will use the local desk. The printed floor on that operator or tourist-office page matches the birthday. Half-day and "kindergarten means 3" traps live on the decoder, not in a brochure kilometre count.

Pick a Kinderhotel

You want one property that treats the baby as the product, often all-in, not a French chalet plus an add-on. Baby Perfect is a hotel standard, not a UK nanny. Read the named hotel. This is not that shopping list.

January week vs Christmas scramble

January or February outside UK school holidays

VIP shared chalets do not take children except on the weeks they print, unless you book a dedicated family chalet. Ski Famille and Mark Warner still want care booked before you fly. Quieter weeks are when a Kinderhotel FAQ says the house is calmer.

Christmas, New Year, February half term

Mark Warner says those weeks sell out quickly. VIP says nannies can be gone up to six months before school-holiday dates. We do not hold a sell-out percentage. Book the care slot with the beds. Christmas creche booking is a later guide.

What does not matter

  • Piste kilometres do not hold a 9-month-old.
  • An Inghams bed in an old Esprit chalet is not Esprit childcare. Inghams says they do not operate it.
  • Alpine "kindergarten" is usually ski school from about 3, not a visitor creche for a baby.
  • A Powder Byrne Concierge week is not automatically a creche week.
  • We do not have a Tesco-price comparison that skips the named holder.

What to do tomorrow

  1. 1

Write the child's age in months for the week you will actually travel.

  2. 2

Pick a rung: mid chalet, Tignes hotel club, VIP nanny, Powder Byrne, DIY desk, or Kinderhotel.

  3. 3

Open the operator page and confirm the printed product matches that age.

  4. 4

Book the care slot with the beds. Ski Famille and Mark Warner will not guarantee a place in resort.

  5. 5

If the week is outside UK school holidays, check the VIP shared-chalet child rule before you fall in love with a listing.

  6. 6

If you are going DIY, confirm the named resort or hotel creche in the local language. Do not guess from an English blog.

  7. 7

If you want a Kinderhotel, read that hotel's age, not the brand slogan.

  8. 8

Do not treat Inghams as the Esprit nanny. They said they do not run it.

Questions parents actually type

We loved Esprit. What replaces it?

Nothing is Esprit. Inghams kept some beds and does not operate the childcare. The mid replacement families name is Ski Famille in-chalet care from 4 months. Mark Warner is a Tignes hotel club from 4 months. VIP is a private nanny from 12 weeks. Powder Byrne is the premium ask-us product. DIY is a named resort or hotel desk you book yourself.

Can I take a 9-month-old on a UK chalet ski week?

Yes, if you book a product that prints that age. Ski Famille Mini Marmots starts at 4 months. Mark Warner Baby Club is 4 to 11 months. VIP private nanny starts at 12 weeks. Powder Byrne nanny and creche start at 4 months where they run. A 9-month-old is not in ski school.

Ski Famille vs Mark Warner vs VIP vs Powder Byrne?

Ski Famille is in-chalet care across the French resorts on their chalets page. Mark Warner is hotel clubs at L'Ecrin in Tignes. VIP is a private nanny in any of their chalets, with group playrooms only in Les Arcs and La Plagne. Powder Byrne is premium, selected resorts, no public price. Read the catch under the table. We are not ranking vibes.

When is a resort creche better than a chalet nanny?

When the beds are already booked, you accept the local-language desk, and the printed floor matches the birthday. Chalet nannies win when you want English-run care in the building and both adults skiing the same hours. Do not assume "kindergarten" covers a baby.

When is a Kinderhotel the better product?

When you want one hotel that holds the baby as the product, often all-in, instead of a French chalet plus an add-on. Original Kinderhotels Baby Perfect promises at least eight hours of trained baby care on at least five days. The age floor is per hotel. Full write is a later guide.

Should we book Christmas or a January week?

Peak weeks are the scarce ones on the operator pages we fetched. VIP prints the 2026/27 school-holiday weeks and blocks children in shared chalets outside those weeks unless the chalet is a dedicated family one. We do not hold a sell-out rate. Book care with the beds either way.

Does Inghams run Esprit childcare now?

No. Their Esprit page says they do not offer childcare services operated by Inghams. Hotel options are booked with the property. They cannot book them or guarantee a place. Loyalty discounts on an Inghams holiday are not a nanny.
